In 16 years we've never seen the mountains looking so beautiful and colorful. Huge swaithes of different colours especially on east and south facing slopes where the sun shines most
If you get a chance drive up to Tuineje, Pajara down to La Pared and up to Betancuria - it's well worth the journey
Did a lot of driving through that area today and couldn't get over all the flowers. I especially loved the low purple swathes of bloom - not sure what it is but it seems quite widespread even along the edges of the busy roads in the north of the island. There was a blue/purple flowered plant (Echium) alongside some of our roads 2 years ago but I'm sure this is a different one. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow to post, see if anyone can identify it.

I didn't manage to get a pic of the purple flower that I had wanted - wherever I saw it growing I couldn't park the car, but I did get these other flowers if anyone can identify them. The yellow one especially intrigued me - it looked like a tall pineapple from the car! I think the foliage that appears to be part of it is actually seedlings of a different plant. The only area I saw it was down between Costa Calma and Jandia. (The pic of the yellow flower is on it's side - I can't get it to behave when I upload it!)
It happens every now and then after heavy rainfalls. The seeds lie dormant for years, then wallop, your garden's full of weeds :o
Thanks Tamara for the pics. 8) Sorry, can't identify.
We saw lots of swathes purple & mauve on the hills too, to & from Puerto on Monday. Wondered what they were. Don't think we have seen this before? Wonderful! 8) 8) 8)
We've seen the hills green before but not in 16 years the wonderful colourscape we now have.
My garden is covered in 4", [100mm] of granite chips. It is now green all over, what to do!!!!
Chuck some weed killer on it and concrete it over

Mine's the same Spike. You pull one up and 10 more grow. I'll wait until the sun dries them up.
Can't put weed killer on, got 6 animals here :o
Its not that backwards of a place that you cant get pet friendly weedkiller ;)
1000 square meters - don't think weed killers such a good idea!
If you're driving to or from Triquivijate, there's a sight to behold. I've been here a long time and never seen this before. On the Triquivijate side of Nipple Mountain there's a sea of Lilac Flowers sweeping down. The strange thing is, there are no others in that area . Amazing 8)

We were over earlier in the month and were surprised at the transformation re all the colours and different flowers + the greenery on the mountains, just goes to show what a spell of rain can do :), very nice to see.
