Title: HiFi Supplier - Amps, Speakers etc,.
Post by: Ironworks on September 19, 2014, 13:40:29 PM
Anyone know of a HiFi supplier here on the Island (or in Lanzarote)?

I've been to Electron in Rosaria and all of their decent stuff - Onkyo AVR, Klipsch speakers - are older models and over-priced.

Or any other suppliers in Gran Canaria or Tenerife that ship here to Corralejo?

I need my music!

For any music kit at all you want Thomann. It's a German company but they have sites in all languages. They're well used to delivering to Fuerteventura, believe me!

Thanks Sheila, I'll look them up.

Now, I don't suppose you know where I can buy a proper pub-style pool table do you? ;)

There is a shop that sells what you require, in Rosario, on the Prieto Risco industrial estate, opposite Lidl. Its called T.V Sat. Go straight on at the roundabout when you enter the estate, I think it's about fourth turning on the right. Expensive though, but this equipment is over here. But you have to weigh this up with what can be large delivery charges and taxes, if you are ordering from outside Fuerteventura.

Hello Ironworks, it good to know there is another audiophile on the island.

Over the years we have sourced Kef, Quad and Tannoy speakers along with Denon & Yamaha AVRs in the UK and shipped them over.

Having said that, we bought a nice Sony AVR from Electron earlier in the year which was cheaper than Richer Sounds.

The Klipsch RF52 & RB81 speakers at Electron are current models and keenly priced.  Klipsch speakers are sold and priced as single items.

We buy all our cables from Kenable`s eBay store:

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/kenable-ltd

Their prices and airmail postage are generally very reasonable

Amazon UK will ship Hi-Fi equipment here.

I`m not impressed with Tele V Sat.  Bought an item from them, discovered it was faulty and took it back the same day.  They refused point blank to exchange it for the same item which was sitting in their stock room or give us a refund.  They said it had to be repaired in Las Palmas and it would take at least 4 weeks!   BOOM, mushroom cloud appears over Puerto del Rosario.

It`s worth getting a voltage surge protector or even better, a UPS.  The voltage varies like crazy and can destroy your equipment.

Think about room acoustics, tiled floors & block walls don`t equal audiophile nirvana.  Oh to have a fitted carpet!

All musical equipment on the Island is RRP. I've used Thomann in Germany, but now I use Picholi in Gran Canaria. They deliver by courier to Fuerte, and have good prices. You can pay with Paypal.

They have an online shop, http://www.picholi.com/tienda/

Example: AUDIO-TECHNICA AT-LP120USBC

Apologies for long delay in replying - been busy with other stuff, but thanks for the replies, I'll check out the links provided.

Story for you... Went to Electron, saw the Klipsch speakers, noted model number, read some reviews on WhatHiFi etc, impressed. Then note that Electrons price was considerably lower than in the UK. "Result" thinks I, and trot off to Electron to snaffle myself some speakers. "I want these" I tell the fella in the shop. "Do you want both?" he asks me. Puzzled look shortly followed by a moment of clarity as the penny drops.

It transpires that Electron price up the speakers 'each'. Not a pair of speakers. No no no. That's far too modern world. Here you buy Left Speaker, or Right Speaker. Both? Pah, that's just for show-offs with their new-fangled 'stereo' sound.

I love living here, but it never ceases to amaze me how 'odd' some things are here.
