Title: Ryanair Weight Limit
Post by: dee-dee on August 03, 2014, 07:09:58 AM
Hi all, will be flying with RA next month for the first time and have noticed there is a 10kg limit on cabin baggage..are they very strict on this?
In your experiences, has anyone had their bags weighed? Thanks  ;D

They've never weighed my carry-on bags, and more recently have been more lenient with size. However, security at Fuerteventura will send you to the Ryanair desk if the case looks oversize.
On the otherhand, I notice BA allow 23kgs of hand luggage, and Easyjet is unlimited - just size restrictions.

I think you'll find that BA allow 23KG of HOLD baggae, not hand baggage

On BA's own aircraft it is actually 23Kg.

In response to Dee Dee's question, it doesn't matter whether everyone else has 'got away with it'. They are the rules and when they decide to have a purge, which all airlines do as the bags get larger, you could be the one that cops for it.
If you abide by the rules you have nothing to worry about.   :D

If you go with a regular cabin size bag you will typically only get 10-11 kgs of personal belonging, unless your bringing hairdryers and hair straighteners etc....

I had my bag weighed at Ryanair Liverpool last year.I had all my clothes for 4 days, a pair of shoes and my table tennis bats .It was 5.4kg. I ditched my shoes as they were worn out and flew back with Thomas Cook who only allow 5kg. I don`t think they have many who travel on handluggage only as they asked me 3 times in the gate queue ,"are you sure you have hand luggage only?"

That is what it says!!!

However, I can barely lift a 23kg bag into and out of the boot  my car, let alone an overhead locker.  Wouldn't like to be sitting under it in turbulence.

I don't believe that Fuerteventura has either woodland or indigenous bears, however it's not hard to guess the outcome if it had.

I have always found the Ryanair boarding gate at Fuerty, a font of entertainment & sport while awaiting the departure of my own flight.  I seem to recall the best moment was the sight of a guy stamping his 2nd piece of hand luggage flat & hurling it down the departure hall  :D
