For shortish visits, I get a Spanish SIM card and use that.  Just had a couple of weeks on the island and used an Orange card, then activated their Ballena 12 tariff, which gives 1GB data for €15 for a month.

You can buy online from SimCardSpain.es and they post it to your home address.  You buy it pre-loaded with credit, and can add more credit online easily.  It's not necessarily the cheapest solution, but for holiday use it does seem to work OK.

As with all WIFI providers, If you are trying to connect to a hotspot without a installation or USB adaptor then the signal may be weak and/or interrmittent unless you are lucky enough to reside within very close range and have direct line of sight to the nearest hotspot.

We've got a wireless router installed by David Giorgio at V-Sat Communications.  Contact details are  V-Sat Communications Tel. 0034 928 160072,  or email him at info@v-satellite.com
Office Hours Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm
He's based in the Monte Castillo centre.  We paid for the installation of the router, then just top up every time we're out there for unlimited access.  It costs us €15 for a week or €20 for 2 weeks.  The longer you pay for, the cheaper it is.  The speed is really good and we can all get access on our phone and ipad at the same time.
Just another option for you.

I have a Spanish Orange Sim for my ipad, bought at Atlantico, Fueste a few years ago. I get topped up whenever we arrive. It normally costs €30, but only 20 this visit. Such a shame, it lasts for a month, but we are only here for 2weeks. It may seem a lot, but not to us, because face booking with family and friends saves us a fortune on phone calls. It saves us a fortune on newspapers too, and my husband watches highlights of football matches. I have never yet used more than my daily allowance. I get excellent connection almost everywhere on the island.

CDM82 come see us at the office when you are over and we might be able to sort you out a deal for moving from CanaryNet to us.
