As I departed a few weeks ago, there was much hype about a new speedy WiFi subscription system starting in Nuevo in May . Apparently, already in parts of Caleta. I'm back shortly and wondering (i) if it's started and (ii) if it's any good ??
I'm not in Horizonte, but all I can think is it could be JRM. They're located in El Matorral opposite the Airport next to the big tyre place. Their Antenna is the big one on top of Chipmunk Mt. I use them with a Wi-Fi Router in my house, and get a very reliable 6 mb download. Perfect for watching Filmon.
Hi woe10
How do you get in touch with JRM? Is there a website?

Thanks for that Woe...sounds promising - 50% faster than my UK Land-line broadband !! Can't remember the actual name of the company, but, they had an ad in one of the free mags/papers recently.
There is a website fot JRM but its constantly dowm they have however a Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/telecomunicaciones.jrm (https://www.facebook.com/telecomunicaciones.jrm)
I think the one advertised is V-Sat Communications SCP, tel (0034) 928 160 072, speak to David, good service and very helpful.

JRM Website: www.telecomunicacionesjrm.es (http://www.telecomunicacionesjrm.es)
Globetrotter, I just tried the website and it went straight in. I've had them for 6 months now without any problem, unlike "others" in Caleta whom I've been with.
Many thanks to everyone. There seems to be loads of choice of lines, WIFI, etc etc. Difficult to say which is best and what is the best cost. Lots to think about. :-\
yes it was us advertising.
Choices in Nuevo currently are:
Us (2Mbit and 4Mbit services available)
CanaryNet (dont know what speed they offer)
JRM (although transmitting from Caleta and not locally in Nuevo) (2, 4 and 6 MBit services available)
not aware of any more but could be wrong
How good the signal from any of us will be, depends on exactly where you are.
You can now get WIMAX wireless internet through wimaxfuerteventura. The service is provided by Iberbanda, a Telefonica company. Download and upload are unlimited and it does not rely on shared ADSL connections but uses dedicated bandwidth. Coverage runs from Costa Calma through Gran Tarajal, Antigua, Triquivijate, Oliva etc. and is being extended. Instalation is free and comes with a landline number and free calls to landlines and 150mins/month to mobiles.
Does anyone know if Wimax Fuerteventura works in Morro Jable?
I tried JRM, as their advert claims to cover this area, but after trying to get a response (twice) from them, gave up.
Thanks
Not according to their coverage map unfortunately.

Thanks Deso. I couldn't get their map to work on my tablet.
There's a great new offer for wireless internet from Iberbanda which now has coverage over much of Fuerteventura and will soon have more. You get symmetrical unlimited broadband with up to 3Mb upload and up to 3Mb download, a wifi router, a landline number with free calls to Spanish landlines and 150 minutes per month to Spanish mobiles.
Instalation is free, until the end of 2014 the price is 15,39â,¬ including tax per month and for the first 6 months of 2015 the price is 28,71â,¬ per month and thereafter 42,03â,¬. For the first one hundred clients there is no permanence contract.
This service uses dedicated bandwidth and professional WIMAX technology - Iberbanda is the only company using licensed bandwidth which means that you get less interference. We have many clients on the mainland using it to watch TV.
For more info send me a message or call our freephone number 900 800 246
Until the end of December the international calls package of 500mins/month to international landlines is also free. More details and coverage on wimaxfuerteventura.com
