Hi ,not very internet savvy, but here goes. i sometimes need to do some work while on holiday in Fuerteventura , for about 20 mins every couple of days, mainly to answer any customer emails. My friend who lives about 300 mtrs away lets me connect to his wifi, problem is i keep losing connection, "not in range" . Is there anything that i can buy which will put me in range, ie arial , usb connector etc.
Have tried to do the work from a bar with wifi, but a bit disrespectful having paperwork , quotes and pricelists all over the table. Would love to just enjoy my holiday without the need for doing this work , but i have to keep my customers happy. Roll on retirement so that we can move to Fuerteventura full time . :D :D

We used to use a Belkin USB extender, basically a small box with an aeriel on it, I just got a USB extender cable to go with it then plug into your laptop and move it around until you get the best signal, ie near a window or nearer your friend, something like this.

Could try a range extender as above or depends on your friend. There are antennas out there that can give long distance coverage (although directional) ie he could fit a cantenna or similar to his roof and you the same and this will give you coverage easily. All sorts of solutions available but simply down to cost and convenience (and knowledge) If you can sometimes connect then he could always fit a better antenna to his router or maybe even upgrade to a wireless N router (most telefonica routers here are only wireless G and also do not incorporate mimo. so perhaps a larger antenna (maybe 8dB) on a N router may solve your problem.
Expect to pay 50€ for new router and about 15€ for antenna (although will need 2 if mimo).
On a standard set up 300mtr is pushing it even with line of site....especially as his router is probbaly indoors and no external antenna.
