Title: Elba Carlota
Post by: Boston terrier on April 04, 2014, 00:55:03 AM
Hi everybody! After spending over £6,000 at Xmas in fuerte because for years we always booked a villa on the golf course for 2 weeks then flights and eating out etc,we felt that the villa didn't warrant that kind of cash,so we thought we'd dip our toe into a AI hotel, but as it's our first holiday on our own without our teenage children we are looking for a relaxing adult only quiet pampered holiday for 2wks in caleta, but we will still be going to all our favourite bars/resturants but not eating every night, obviously we will miss the privacy of our own pool etc,has anybody got views on Elba Carlota? Or any suggestions on a good hotel that offers the child free break that we long for? :-)

We stayed on the Golf over New Year and went to the hotel for New Years Eve.  We met some English people who said that they always stayed there.  They said that it was a good 3/4 star hotel, said that food was OK but not amazing.  Usual buffet selection.

I think if you are going for A/I you have to be realistic about the price that you are paying.  Time you take the flight costs and room costs out they are probably feeding and watering you for a very cheap price.  However, bottles of water and alcohol if you drink mount up so if you are prepared to have some meals out then I am sure that it will be stress free and nice and relaxing.

They are doing some good deals at the moment because we are looking to book 2 weeks in May whilst we furnish our villa on the golf.

Perhaps take a look on trip advisor as well.  I am sure there will be some more knowledgeable people chipping in soon.

Have a great time whatever you decide.

Wish we were going out to the Island soon!!!!

Not sure that Elba Carlota is Adult Only if you look at images on their website, also not convinced a hotel that size with a convention centre will be as relaxing as you are looking for.

We stayed twice at the Elba Palace Golf in 2011 and whilst not AI it is I think more relaxing see Trip Advisor including a post I made.

Enjoy yourselves in May

For a nice peaceful holiday, why not try the La Casita Hotel. It only has 17 rooms and is centrally located just down from Dulce Leche Cake Shop. It used to be called El Majay, I've heard nothing but great reviews from people about this place, and the Tripadvisor reviews are all good.
It's different than the big corporate, cold hotels, and I would stay there myself if I didn't live here.

They have a website, and also check it out on TA.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply to my question, I will take a look at the small hotel,it seems all the hotels in Caleta are family orientated not that I'm against them it's just we've done our time with screaming kids etc and now think we deserve abit of quiet and relax time for once! Only just managed to get the time of work hence the last minute.com! Looking forward to unwinding with my bikini/shorts on and pint of baileys with lots of ice! And a condor moment with my chocolate cigar looking out to the sea! With hopefully the sun blazing! Rrrrr this is the life!!! Excited! :-)

Yes Hev, and by all accounts it's excellent. Great personal service. Remember Big Mel used to have it, who unfortunately passed away.
They have free WIFI in all rooms, and it's a continental style breakfast. It looks like Adults only but not 100% sure, but Pets are welcome.

From the website:
Tranquility, peace and freedom from stress, are the watchwords of this small hotel, which, however, being right in the center of Caleta de Fuste.
