Title: Crazy facts.
Post by: isleswing on March 07, 2014, 13:21:32 PM
A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes.
A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death. (Creepy. I'm still not over the pig.)
The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off. (Honey, I'm home . What the...?)
The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field. (30 minutes. Lucky pig! Can you imagine?)
The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds. (What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)
Some lions mate over 50 times a day. (I still can't believe that pig ...quality over quantity.)
Butterflies taste with their feet. (Something I always wanted to know.)
Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump. (Okay, so that would be a good thing.)
A cat's urine glows under a black light. (I wonder how much the government paid to figure that out.)
An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. (I know some people like that.)
Starfish have no brains. (I know some people like that, too.)
Polar bears are left-handed. (Talk about a southpaw.)
Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure. (What about that pig? Do the dolphins know about the pig?)

Crazy facts. (and gotta love that pig) !!!!!! -----

Now we understand Can the Man's pigs !

Are there people of the UK who use the term southpaw for lefthanded? It is a expression used in baseball in the U.S.

P.S. I still want evidence about the Sus domesticus before I believe it. It may be related only to male pigs.

Hi SoCal, in the UK southpaw is usually associated with a boxer who leads with his left hand.
By the way, this will confuse you. In Britain the small pack men wear around there waist we call a bum bag. If you type in what Americans call it ( believe its a f+++y pack). Guarantee you won't understand the outcome. Go on try it ;D

Warning: the following post could be interpreted by a person from the UK as is full of "inappropriate" words. :o :o :o :o However, to a person raised in the United States, such a posting could be seen on most any forum.

We have to remind the "uni" students who do conduct a study abroad experience in the UK that the UK and US speak different languages. In the US, words such fanXy, an innocuous word used for the buttocks will be interpreted in England as pussy, and not the cat version.

(We interrupt this posting to note that the forum software will not allow me post the full 5 letter American English word for buttocks. I'm going to write the full word and see what is posted: (http://image2.findagrave.com/photoThumbnails/photos/2007/353/20794327_119818384015.jpg)

Frankly - I have no idea what this image is from. Who is this person?

Oddly, the word "pussy" is far more likely to be struck from an American forum, yet it passes the censors here. )

In addition, the term "napkin" could be interpreted by some Brits as "sanitary napkin". We tend to call these a "sanitary pad" or "maxi pad". This education came after one American student kept asking her host UK family for napkin at the dinning table in front of the young children.  :o :o It did not go well.  We now teach the word "serviette".

Of course "boot" of a car is strange to us as well as the term "lift". And we enter the building on the "first floor", hence the floor above is the "second floor". (This makes reading advertisements for apartments/flats sometimes difficult.)

And it goes the other way. Our English secretary kept telling students, both male and female, to "keep your pecker up!" To Americans, pecker is slang for penis.

And American's name our children after male organs (Dick) and being sexually aroused (Randy).

Words also cross several languages. Lady SoCal once worked for the software company of the Japanese video game Sega. The company was called Segasoft and I had several coffee cups with the name of the company posted on the cups. My Italian colleague told me that the word "sega" was slang for "penis" in Italian.  He loved using the cup and would always laugh every time he drank from it.

Very interesting SoCal, I know when we have visited the. States, the terms we use can cause great hilarity.
Just for the record, it's a picture of f a n n y Craddock  one of the first TV chefs from the 50's and 60's.
There you go, told you you'd learn something ;D ;D

Johnny Craddock came up with the famous saying "'And if you follow the recipe, all your doughnuts will look like Fa**ys!"
