Translated from Canarias7: http://www.canarias7.es/articulo.cfm?id=328341 (http://www.canarias7.es/articulo.cfm?id=328341)

The last obstacle to the continuation of the promenade of El Castillo, and thus regenerating the beach being both projects together , yesterday began to fall with the start of the file condemnation Frasquita restaurant . The city of Antigua adopted it unanimously .

The release of the last strip of land for the continuation of the promenade of El Castillo began yesterday with the approval of the initiation of eminent domain proceedings Frasquita restaurant . Unanimously, the city of Antigua greenlit this expropriation which involves the demolition of the city's iconic building for a few meters of your current location , leaving a total area of 125.63 square meters , of which 75.85 correspond with the building and 49.78 are for the terrace.

This last step that corresponded to the City of Antigua with regard to the promenade means likewise advance an even more vital to its tourist economy project : the regeneration of the beach. Both initiatives are linked since last decision by the municipal legislature , so their processing should be matched to the same body responsible : Costas .

The beginning of the procedure for expropriation of land Frasquita implicitly assumes that assumes full declaration of public utility of the actions necessary for the implementation of the specific modification of the General Management Plan ( PGO ) of Antigua in plots L -2 and S of the first phase of urban land in El Castillo, finally approved by the COTMAC in 2011.

It's just disgusting. It even says in the article that it's an "Iconic Building".

It is going to be rebuilt, according to the report from the council meeting, just back from it's present location:

And hopefully it will all not take so long to achieve completion -  unlike the bus station!

We had a meal there with our three kids in about 1985.  There was no menu - when we asked to see it the waiter just went into the kitchen and returned with an enormous platter of wet fish for us to choose from. Delicious.

My thoughts exactly, just build round it. It is one of the only original buildings left. It wouldn't be a big job to go round and would be "interesting"

Surely it has to be cheaper to do that than demolish, rebuild and then add the foot path.  I just will never understand their logic or rather lack of it.........anyone got an email addy for the "planning dept" at Antigua............I feel a strong email coming on here.

.
You should know by now that LOGIC isn't in the vocabulary. Also, when it was built, there was nowhere to apply for planning permission.
