Has anyone with Movistar ADSL tried using a Smart DNS rather than a VPN for iplayer, sky go etc?

I have just purchased a Raspberry Pi to do something similar, have a google on the RPi forums as there seems to be quite a few people using this device to do what you are attempting.
Raspberry Pi's are £30'ish on fleabay and power consumption is 8w :D
Hi Ian, if Smart DNS will work on Movistar I should be able to use our Sky box for catchup and Sky Go programs.
I have a PC connected to the telly so I could put XBMC on that, OR, I have an Android box, OR, BBC/ITV player via PC.
Whichever way I do it I need to make it as simple as possible in case I have anyone staying in the apartment.
There's even Filmon, although the quality of the SD channels isn't very good and I hear they are up in court again so that may not last.

I have Smart DNS and VPN from Overplay - just waiting for landlord to text router login/password , and I can then tell you if it works.
Even if it doesn't, Overplay have good guides that show you how to set up individual devices including Windows or Mac computer, iPhones and iPads, Apple TV etc etc - so all can be set up, and work (I've got it set up like this pending router access). Overplay isn't free though, their SmartDNS is $4.95 monthly, or VPN (which includes Smart DNS) is $9.95 monthly - it also allows you to switch Netflix to other countries so you can watch US Netflix (loads more American content), and Netflix Canada (has more up to date films)' as well as other regions like Brazil, Sweden etc,.
Finally, if you really want to nail it, you can buy modified routers that use DD-WRT firmware with Overplay VPN built in - the DD-WRT also significantly increases wireless signal range. More at www.flashrouters.com (http://www.flashrouters.com)
You can try using unlocator.com, its free while they're in beta stage.
I'm using it for Netflix, over Movistar (VDSL) without any issues.
