I wont fly TC again i am 6ft and medium build and could not fit my legs in front of me. good job I was in a isle seat >:(

Yessss.....I feel your pain. There's an old thread here regarding the reclining of seats and the discomfort it causes when flying with an airline which packs them together as much (or more so than is humanly possible). Despite all the negative viewpoints Re: Ryainair and Easyjet , at least the seats can't recline onboard their flights. I had avoided both carriers for a long time, but, purely for this reason, I now fly with them when possible.
When we flew down here just over 4 weeks ago our Easyjet aircraft had new style seats which had much thinner seat backs, there was no loss in comfort, but certainly great benefit in terms of the couple of inches extra legroom it provided - so well done Easyjet.

Our last flight had those too, they are made by Recaro, the car sports seat maker, and give a feeling of much more space around you. I like them and they are comfortable enough.
They will be the seats that all new Easyjet aircraft will have and save 600Kg of weight on the plane.
These new seats may be great now, but just wait till they stick an extra row in!
Apparently, the A320 is certified for 180 passengers and the A319 for 156.
These are the numbers that Easyjet carry so they can't add any more seats. :D
I would imagine that saving 600Kgs of weight makes it worthwhile in terms of fuel consumption.
As much as we all "Stony waste matter separated from metals during the smelting or refining of ore" Thomas Cook. I went Canada about 5 years ago and it was a Thomas Coo k flight and I was surprised at the amount of leg room. There was tall guy on the aisle seat and when I got up to go to loos etc he did not have to move. I was very surprised and no it was not the emergency area all the rows were like that.

I went Virgin to Jamaica a couple of years ago my face was almost touching the seat in front of me. Never again.
My friends went for holiday insurance and was asked who they were flying with. When asked why, they were told " we can't insure you if you are flying with Thomas Cook". Something to do with them being in financial difficulties.
So what happens if you have an annual travel policy?
I have never been asked who I'm flying with. I have annual insurance with Staysure (over 50's) They are great..no extra charge for admitting you are type 2 diabetic. Why would anyone ask who you are flying with..I've travelled for 40 years and never been asked.

Changing times Hev. Another way to not insuring high(er) risks than low risk cover. They want only safe as houses money from us all!!
I must admit, like Zedzed and Hev, I don't get it. We too always take out annual insurance and fly with numerous different airlines throughout the year. I couldn't possibly tell them who we would be flying with as basically it comes down to whichever airline is offering the best value for money in line with our requirements. Just another thought, maybe I've been under the wrong impression, but wouldn't you be covered by ATOL in the event of failure of an airline like TC? We are usually issued with an ATOL certificate.
No doubt if you were to book a flight with Tommy Cook they would offer you car hire, accommodation and also insurance, so some one must insure them. There was a rumour that seemed to imply that the next airline to fold would be Tommy Cook, that was a while ago now and they are not only still trading but competitive on price as well. I wouldn`t have any qualms about booking with them.

I`m five nine and don`t have problems fitting into EJ seats. I note your name implies residence in the pie eating capital of the world. Perhaps you could lay off the pies for a few months before flying, you might then be able to squeeze into the seat without oozing out all over the place. Is 5ft8 your height or waist measurement?
i do not eat pies, and no that is in fact my height sorry when you have long legs it was very uncomfy.
So basicly you are implying that i am fat!! Nothing wrong with my "width" if anything under weight not that its anybody's business.

Lady SoCal is 5'7" with a 28 inch waist and a 34 inch inseam. She experiences similar problems with cramp seats. And she hates it when the person in front of her leans back his/her seat right into her face.

Wigan pier doesn't exist as such its called a canal where they moored up and emptied coal ect a very long time ago. And a myth about wigan pie eaters........ Don't eat them and never will, but however you do seem to be an expert who goes around insulting people you don't know anything about. An apology would have been nice but I guess wherever you are from people don't do that.

The original "pier" at Wigan was a coal loading staithe, probably a wooden jetty, where wagons from a nearby colliery were unloaded into waiting barges on the canal. The original wooden pier is believed to have been demolished in 1929, with the iron from the tippler (a mechanism for tipping coal into the barges) being sold as scrap.[1]
The name Wigan Pier was possibly invented by and was brought to popular attention by George Formby, Sr. in the Music Halls of the early twentieth century and later by George Formby, Jr. who incorporated it into his songs. Someone looking out of an excursion train to Southport in the fog and seeing a coal gantry asked "Where are we?" and was told "Wigan Pier".[2] The tippler became the favoured location when people subsequently wanted to see it. There are references to it in songs such as On the Wigan Boat Express.[3]
Wiganers are sometimes referred to as "pie-eaters". The name dates from the 1926 General Strike when Wigan miners were starved back to work before their counterparts in surrounding towns and were forced to metaphorically eat "humble pie".
