In Cotillo there are a couple of large Marquees gone up on the waste ground behind the Football stadium. Probably for the catering. Does anybody know where and when filming will take place around Cotillo?
More activity on the site over the past few days.
Several portacabins which look like shower and toilet facilities, some smaller marquees, large generators on the back of a truck and what appears to be a large portable paddling pool has been constructed. Wonder of this could be an emergency water supply in case of fire.
Out towards the lighthouse there are also several large marquees, portable stable blocks for around 20 horses and more portable cabins. Crews were erecting some of the marquees this morning in the middle of a sandstorm when we drove past.
Closer to the lighthouse we were turned away by security ( one man in a bomber jacket) but could see lorries, vans and 4X4 vehicles in the first bay to the right of the lighthouse. Looked like they were setting up the site for filming bu the dust and sand was hampering their efforts.
A gang of guys were on the shore raking up mounds of seaweed to clear the beach scenes but an endless task IMO as the weed is likely to be washed back on the next high tide.
My guess is that with these preparations underway filming will be within a few days - weather permitting.
My money is on the North of Cotillo being used as the backdrop for the parting of the Red Sea sequences.
I have some photos that I will post when we get home in a few days.
Windy as hell here at the moment.
According to a press report last week, they are due to start filming in El Cotillo on 12 Dec.
The bad weather yesterday stopped filming down south, so there might be a delay as further bad weather today and over the next two days, might slow things down.
This Facebook page is interesting -https://www.facebook.com/Exodus.Movie.Location?fref=ts
It's lovely in Skeg!
God must be annoyed and has wreaked havoc upon Fuerteventura. There is a murky tempest outside my house!
Thanks guys. Keep the thread going as I'm in El Cotillo soon.
Also, I would be interested to have a report on the condition of the track to Cofete. eg has it been improved for getting the trucks over to the beach and is it possible to get a car over the top?
I have tried before but chickened out where the road starts to climb the mountain, purely for the state of the car!
Thanks
Some photos as promised.
If you right click on each pic you should see a larger version.
These were taken on the morning of Tuesday 10th December

A dust storm wasn't one of the 10 plagues of Egypt but Fuerte doesn't always stick to the script

Hope these give a flavour of the scale of the film support effort in and around El Cotillo but I expect these will increase further during the filming of the scenes.
Sorry that some of the shots up around the lighthouse are a little fuzzy but they were shot at max range with a 300mm zoom lens and from a moving car.

Marquees now set up at the abandoned development opposite Tamaragua.
Any idea how long they are on the island for? We are over on 18th Jan
I had hope to walk the North shore, before I go back, but I can read that Gone Fishing got turned round by the lighthouse, does that mean its a no go area, to get to track to start the walk ?
I love watching film sets, had a great time when we had Robin Hood filmed in Pembrokehsire (but not to take "pap" style pictures)
Thanks
Matt
I had read or heard that filming on Fuerte was scheduled to take 6 weeks and that should be done by mid-December.
Recent windy condition may extend that by a week or so is my guess.

I think that the North Shore is not totally out of bounds
The last 200 metres of road to the lighthouse had a barrier across and we were turned around by the security man in the turning point which overlooks the first cove where the vehicles and beach cleaners were photographed.
We could have parked up there and walked around the crew who were preparing the area at a respectful distance and I don't think that we would have been challenged but if your visit coincided with a period of filming i suspect that a cordon would be in place for quite some distance as the last thing Sir Ridley would want is a wayward hiker strolling into shot :D
I think that thay have already filmed some scenic arial shots of the 'desert' from a helicopter with a gyroscopically stabilised camera set up as this one was out and about for a few days late in the afternoon over El Cotillo and out towards the North Shore or perhaps they were rehersing the helecopter shots prior to actual filming

Reckon you could have spent all day today breaking the speed limit as all the policia were going to and fro all day long to the filming up at the lighthouse. A roadblock just after Azzurro was turning everyone (apart from the coaches ferrying the extras and the Police of course) back. You won't get any closer to the action than this by car but if you're on foot you could always try parking up at Azzurro and going cross country. If you are lucky you might make it to the dunes overlooking the Lagoon where the filming is taking place. A sign says that the road is closed until Saturday 14th so maybe one more day of filming here.
By the way, anyone feeling lucky might want to join me in making it by foot? Recommend a rendezvous at dawn mañana in the Azzurro car park preferably Wearing khaki or beige clothing. Just gotta ask yourself one question punk...do you feel lucky?
Thanks for the info', maybe time for my walk next week, through running out of days :(
Any more info?
This morning, on the road to Caldereta just up from the main road Puerto - Corralejo
Massive marquee and trailers for sleeping.
Looks like they're building the Pharaoh's throne. 2 massive Sphinx statues.

Scott says Fuerteventura could be ideal venue for future films.
20.12.2013 - As reported here, the award-winning British film-maker, whose past box office successes include Blade Runner, Gladiator and Robin Hood, chose the desert-like conditions and beaches of Fuerteventura to shoot key scenes of his new version of the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt and he has not been disappointed with the experience.
Early calculations put the revenue generated for the island by the presence of Scott and his extensive cast of actors and extras (around 900 people in all) at around €7 million and the director feels that the very positive experience could tempt others to follow suit and use Fuerteventura as a location. Needless to say, the local authorities, particularly the Tourist Board, are thrilled at the international publicity the temporary stay of actors such as Christian Bale and Sigourney Weaver has brought
I interviewed the Production Director for my show on Thursday - he was so happy with the Island, the weather and the people here and thanked everyone for their help and kindness during their visit.
On behalf of Sir Ridley Scott and the whole film crew he wished everyone a Happy Christmas
I'm sure Fuerteventura is now on the film location map and we can build even more expertise
Are the film makers still on the island?
I believe they start again on 6th January - might have been home for Christmas & NY.
This is great for Fuerte'. International recognition at last!
Do we know when filming around El Cotillo is due to end, We are coming out for a cheeky holiday 1st of Feb and will be staying in Cotillo, will be gutted if cant get to the beaches.

How cold is freezing? last Jan our villa pool was 19o/c and the sea seemed warmer. As long as its no colder I should be ok in my Speedos!!!
The sea temperature is 2 deg cooler than same time last year - don't know about your pool!
Before I discovered Fuerte', I used to do my sunshine walking on Tenerife. The holiday companies used to claim 'Planet of the Apes' was filmed there. I don't believe this was the case, and I never saw any scenery which resembled that seen in 'Planet of the Apes'. What had been filmed there in the '60s was 'One Million Years BC', and much more recently (I gather) 'Clash of the Titans'.
After Exodus is released, I wonder what Reps and Booklets will claim was filmed on Fuerte'?
'The Hobbit' perhaps?
Did Spike get a part as he can walk on water
Am I correct in saying that Sacha Baron Cohens "The Dictator" was filmed partly in Fuerte?
Hardly a claim to fame though. I've seen the film and it is better forgotten! :o
