I have recently bought a SIMcard in the UK which can also have an Spanish number attached to it for 30 days (or for £5 per year you can keep the Spanish number on a continuous basis). The card is PAYG and offers what I consider to be very acceptable call and data rates for calls and data use in Spain.
Google  0044 and check it out i.e. zero, zero, 4, 4. I have mine ready to use in a iPhone 4s next time I go out there.
