Title: Apartments in Caleta - Bank Repossessions
Post by: woe10 on October 18, 2013, 11:58:31 AM
The Bank is selling off repossessed apartments at Puerto Del Sol in Caleta - 22,100 Euros.

These would be a brilliant investment as they would probably still have a tourist licence. I wouldn't mind one to refurb and rent out, pity I don't have the money lol

Careful  - look at other Caleta complexes that never rose from the flames! They are now either empty or falling down

Aren't these old complexes exactly that and becoming dated [bit like Butlins did] and more modern accommodation much more attractive

What's the Community Charge now and in five years time and what happens if a number of the empty apartments stay empty?

Looks like a £22k gamble to me where you have no control of the future

I went to see these apartments two months ago and quite frankly I wouldn't have one if they gave them away!

You would need to spend at least 10k to modernize them and the place is so undesirable you couldn't use them for holiday lets.

Yes you have to so careful of what you buy, some are just unlettable or unsellable. Your place in Pajara is still on the market after about 2 years isn't it spike? So you're obviously in the know  :) :)

We stayed in these apartments on our second visit to the island back in 2000 and it was basic but clean and a bar and restuarant/cafe. It also had a decent size swimming pool and good  central location.Sadley all the little shops around it and bar have fell by the wayside and are in a state of disrepair.I saw they where up for sale when I was over in August and went to have a look. The complex is in a run down state so it was not for me.You get what you pay for.
Three business men bought this complex a good few years ago and some of them actually sold for £125, 000 Euros, they said all the bar area would be refurbished into a sports bar and other major improvement would follow.Im so glad I did not buy one back then.I believe they went bankrupt and one of the partners apparently committed suiside over the money he lost on the venture.Sad fact was the recession hit and they could not recoup there loss I guess. On of them came to see me and my family in Barcelos, I was a flabbergasted at the price tag he gave me at the time but that was the peak of the property boom.

In a couple of years or so, there could ne no more so-called All Inclusive here, or at least more regulation.  That's when the prices will go back up for Private apts. I think I'll have a couple  ::)

Yes it is Hev as are many other properties here on the Island as is obvious when driving round - in fact the marketing of the apartment in Pajara is on hold until the market improves but the web site wwwapartmentinpajara.com is still there if anyone wants to holiday in "real" Fuerteventura and the price is negotiable. Remember it is freehold with no management fees or other "costs"  (Council Tax 225.0 Euros p.a.)   [thanks for the opportunity of getting a plug in Hev!]

And with the banks being forced to clear their balance sheets of housing stock it ain't going to get any better for two or three years

The good news - my daughter is just putting her house on the market in Lincolnshire. One similar house a few doors up sold for the asking price in 17 days!

Oh dear Spike -("looks like a gamble where you have no control of the future")What the effing hell type of Gamble do you have control over? A Gamble is just that! i.e. a risk is involved! Life is a risk, will we wake up tomorrow? will the Bank go bust?
You completely missed the point that the properties may have an existing tourist licence, which would add to their value!
Maybe the Forum should buy three. One for Spike. One for Bright Spark & the third one for the Referee!!!!

A professional gambler has control over where he places his bets and when.  This increases his chances of winning

A bookmaker sets odds which are dependent of the risk of winning - odds of 100 to 1 is different to 1 to 100

The "license" point is valid but what is the "value" without a license and how much would the "license" add to the worth - it's part of the calculation to produce the size of the gamble

So reasonable responses to the thread titled "Apartments in Caleta - Bank Repossessions" has generated TWO OBSCENE REACTION. This forum has never stooped so low - Admin please let me know by mail when you've regained control of the forum and the "people" who seem unable to behave as responsible, adult human beings. Decent people find that this disgusting language in a public place is unacceptable.

I'd love to come back and add value to genuine Fuerteventura based questions that help people in need advice -

Medication, mental state, flippin` loony and some one who takes their name from Spike Milligan and his television show "Q", it all somehow fits .
Title: Re: Apartments in Caleta - Bank Repossessions

Here we go again - personal insults and degradation.  Being called a "flippin' loony" and "don't miss your medication" could be very hurtful to some people - but who cares if another human being is hurt, certainly a few on this forum don't, they consider it fun.

Do you think they communicate with one another off forum [strange they all know one anothers real names]  to make sure there are concerted and bitter attacks on people - bit like the football hooligan gangs used to?

I thought the gang had grown up, a vain hope it seems. What amazes me is that Admin allows this and the obscene language used earlier in this thread to go on and on - after all that has been said in the past about personal remarks, nothing is ever done to stop these people

By the way - I had a crew cut when I was 12 - 1960, the boys in my class at school called me Spike

And I don't run a radio station - oh dear!

In what way?

Because I called you Barry? - sorry if it annoyed you, and I apologise if it did,  but calling you by your Christian name could never be called an insult, I just thought it was your name. Why you considered it as a personal slur that generated such a hateful remark I cannot understand - please explain so that we all understand your motivation for using obscene language and making personal attacks on genuine forum contributors just here in an attempt to help people with bona fide  questions about Fuerteventura

Ok, now you are just making no sense whatsoever.
I asked you if you missed your medication because less than 24 hours ago we seemed to be agreeing with eachother on another thread, and then today you come back with a load of waffle about how we're "in a gang" because some of us know eachother on first name basis'.

May I suggest you step away from the computer tonight Spike? Go take a nice walk or something?

I''m still waiting for you to explain why you continue to personally insult me - along with 3 or 4 other people on this forum. I have never used bad language nor run any of you down, passed comment of your mental state or the fact that you may need medication -  or any other personal sleight - but you use foul language and personal insults and continually gang up on me to defile me. I just think it unnecessary and totally unfair. The forum has died - have you not noticed - few people posts here with questions any more as they get ridiculed before they even start - look at the guy who asked about cycles. The first response was that he knew nothing about bikes! It is very sad ----

I haven't used bad language against you? nor, as I explained in an earlier post did I comment on your mental state, you did that yourself.
If you think that I throw personal insults at you then sorry Spike but you seriously need to grow a thicker skin.
If you want to talk about unnecessary and unfair then that can be applied to the continual moaning and playing the victim card which seems to be bought on out of thin air.
No one is conspiring against you, you come on and goad people, then cry about it when someone retaliates.
As I said, I had a "part" conversation with you yesterday that I actually enjoyed, then today you come back with all this garbage out of no where.

I'm no doctor Spike but I wouldn't rule out being bipolar judging by your characteristics the last 48 hours.

To me it's like water off a Duck's back. I wind people up for telling it as it is. Living in Fuerte makes me feel "Imune" to the PC, Do-Gooder, Heads Buried in the Sand Brigade, Brainwashed by the Blair Era, and now wandering around like Headless Chickens in the Cameron phase.

The same people that voted for Blair, will no doubt be voting for that Loony Tune, Ed Milliband.
