And post names of posters who offend/jump the gun/insult/or who mearly post without thinking if a reply is apt or not.
Guess it may fill up quickly, lol. :'( :'( :'(
I do so agree!!!
I could name one straight off but won't :-X :-X
What Joy, bet you cant wait to get to Fuerteventura with the hope in your heart of bumping into these nice people
God how I miss the old days of the internet, where you could pretty much say anything you like, and you knew full well that the other person would fire back as good as they got, then you just moved on.
Now it seems full of mentally frail, pc brigade lovers and moaners.
I don't really know where it went wrong, I guess Labour didn't help in the noughties when they pledged to drive down the cost of owning a pc and helping make it accessible to many.
Give me 10 nutters speaking their mind anyday over 1 mentally frail PC crusader.
Most of us are guilty of saying the wrong thing inappropriately, butting in at the wrong time, misunderstanding the context of a discussion or saying something that in hindsight may be ill advised from time to time.
I doubt a 'name and shame' will help and I'm sure it won't reduce any bad feeling.
For those that do genuinely offend regularly we can ban them if they don't heed our warnings. To date, rightly or wrongly, we haven't banned anyone (for those reasons) - most people take the hint.
BS - I understand where you're at. In the pub I can enjoy a good slanging match but there are many things I've said in the pub that I'm glad weren't committed to print and as I've said
several times before, the 'halcyon days' may have been fun for some but behind the scenes too many people were being genuinely distressed and upset and we were getting involved in legal situations far too often for our pleasure.
In this context, I think the 'PC' thing is a facile argument and just used to belittle people's discomfort - usually used alongside 'man up' or 'grow a pair'. Before the term 'PC' existed it was just called good manners or civilised behaviour.
As in rearing children or pets, there comes a time when you have to stop them defecating all over the place - especially when you have guests coming round.
...and I've also said before, there is nothing wrong with a heated debate - but debaters and even boxers are told to stick to the rules and keep it clean.
Having said all that....

Isn't that what the Jeremy Kyle show is?

Aye, what Brightspark sez. Some forums are unchanged, others (like this one) are becoming barren of original material, just the same fun boy three regurgitating drivel. almost as if they get paid for any contribution, however banal, as long as it gets the viewing figures up. I find it strange that we have an admin fussing over inconsequential little things, busy moving posts from one section to another yet if you ask me ninety percent of posts should be redirected straight to dross.

I'd assumed you'd read this:

If there's anything there you don't understand let me know and I'll simplify it for you.
A "name and shame" has never been successful on any forum, and come to think of it, any other platform on the internet.
They don't work because individuals become judge and jury, flaming people who "they just don't like".
Don't know whether OP was actually being serious or not when making this thread (hopefully not) but if he was I would hazard a guess that he hasn't been around many forums to make such a suggestion.

Well put Norrin
And Brightspark, OP did not start this thread, I did, which was never meant to be taken seriously, just a tongue in cheek post. :-* :-*
!Quote op < And Brightspark, OP did not start this thread, I did >
Classic.
It has no indication that it was a tongue in cheek post, why, it even has serious threatening and sinister little men guarding it. Stop back pedalling op, stick to your guns.
maybe we should have a section that names and shames those who start daft threads.

What I don`t understand is your obsession with tidying up. My post made reference to the gang of three posting endless drivel, you don`t comment on that part of the post, just the bit about square pegs not being in square holes. All forums have contributors that don`t get it right, some just don`t care, some do care but make a mistake. Why not just leave it unless it`s some deliberate attempt to , for example , post an advert right across the forum.

Thought it was tongue in cheek, I had a feeling it was, never can be too sure though

I've already answered that in the link I already posted - it's not complicated: http://www.fuerteventura-forum.com/index.php?topic=16531.msg291978#msg291978 (http://www.fuerteventura-forum.com/index.php?topic=16531.msg291978#msg291978)

You're in illustrious company. I've been known to quote and comment on Shakespeare without analysing or reciting the whole play. I've quoted the Bible without quoting the whole tome and I've quoted Homer (Simpson) without analysing the entire episode.
You've just quoted Globetrotter and me without commenting on the rest of our posts.

merely cut and pasted it from Globetrotters initial post. Not my fault ???
In that case I'd like to name and shame Globetrotter for misspeling mispeling misspelling ..... Nah.. forget it.

This thread seems to have done the trick, the new section is almost complete - good idea
Sorry - my mistake, I didn't realise the list of names were contributors!
Yes Spike...we are all here now ;D Thanks for joining us....complete ;D ;D ;D
You don't happen to know a Spanish restaurant in Rome btw do you ? ::) ::) ::)
I'm sure that I don't stand alone, but I often come on this forum to find information and enjoy others thoughts and ideas and experiences on a whole range of different things, but all to often it gets dragged down by arrogant bullying comments which spoils the enjoyment of coming on here! I would hate to think that new comers that come on here that have either yet to experience the beauty of fuerteventura or genuinely have a love of the island will be put of from getting valuable info from this site due to the constant nasty arrogant comments and will put them off making any contribution to the forum in fear of being ripped apart, there's no need for it on here it spoils it for everyone else which judging by the mentality I don't think their give a s--t. >:(
is that you again bs? lol
Not guilty lol, lost touch with this thread :/
wouldn't bother if i were you it hit skid row about 6 or 7 posts ago.
Admin know excatly who is posting here under 'new' names by the IP address..that's how Brightsparks pic was there on Chippy thread..it's a shame it's not done on everyones posts..the origional computer that posts are done from..I only have my one here but theres several who post under different names ;) ;)
OR a few forums I'm on actually show the IP address next to the users name.. ;) ;D
Some of the multi characters in the past used to be good fun and done for a laugh, or as a joke thread like the latest from bs. If they are created to back up personal agendas though its a whole different ball game.

If they use a proxy server then it can be very difficult.
Kenny, is that a proxy server or a poxy server :D :D :D
I think we should name and shame everyone that eats meat. And just to be fair we should name and shame everyone who never eats meat.
