Be careful of putting them close to head level..I got my hair caught in one years ago and had long hair at the time, as I spun around to see what was on my head it wrapped round my face..it was covered in flies. I have panic attacks now if I see one yuk yuk yuk. In fact that post bought it all back to me..better go and get a calming drink lol
A nice cocktail for you hev, called the Fly Swatter

I remember a few yrs ago there was an epidemic of flies and it was this time of the year, sept, there was literally million's of em, and they were sort of half dormant, no one seemed to know where they came from, it took a cupla wks for them to disappear, hope it's not that bad again and hope they've all gone in the nxt 2 wks, when i'm back over.
Terrible problem with flies and wasps here in the UK too at the moment.
The Spanish hang polythene bags filled with water, in the trees or near the door. They're suppose to look like giant fly eyes and scare them off :'(
