Recently we have bought a property and we are clueless on the way bills are made. We have direct debits set up in our bank account to pay them.
The water bill has just been paid and was more than we expected as there isnt anyone there and we turned the water off from the mains. Is there a standing charge or an estimate reading?
The first bill was for 22,32 but we had stayed there a week and not known how much water would have been used prior. This bill was for 16,48. The last time anyone stayed there was 26th April.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You don't say were your property is located - it almost certainly makes a difference. It also matters whether the property is on a complex, or a private villa etc.
With Aguas Antigua there is a standing charge, which can be different for residents/non-residents. Some properties e.g. on the golf course, for example, have there own water and supply it direct to the proerties.
On some complexes you also pay your share of the complex water bill via your own property water bill.
All in all it's best to speak to a neighbour who can explain what they pay etc and compare prices with them.
Thank you for trying to help :)
Our property is in Beach Villas, Caleta de Fuste.
We are not residents, and not there at the moment to ask.

It's fairly certain that your water will be supplied by Aguas Antigua and, as mentioned, there will be a standing charge of 9 to 10€ p.m. If you also add your share of any community water use then 16€ is not too bad, even for a month when your water is turned off.
We do know people who are owners on Beach Villas, but can't contact them just now as we are due to fly home tomorrow.
Hope you get to meet other owners on Beach Villas and gain from their experience.
Yes the water bills are from EMPRESA MIXTA DE AGUAS DE ANTIGUA.
I was wondering if some was for the community pool too?
We hope to have some information from the president soon. But as we are so new to this...long lets dont give you that experience!
All a learning curve :)
My worry was if there was a leak somewhere we hadnt seen! :o
Thank you for your help.
