Title: never again
Post by: thomo on May 15, 2013, 09:49:15 AM
Thought we would drop into Tommy Nutters last night on the way home for a night cap,  as we approached (50 yds) it was obvious someone was well over the limit as the language was appalling and just to cap that one of the group shouted out to God Knows who,  Oi! get your wife to suck my C---, I´m no prude but there is a limit as to what is aceptable. needless to say we did not go in, a couple leaving at the same time did remark they would not be returning be cause of the language , pity really as the place has had some good reviews on here.

They should have been kicked out before it got that far. But if they're staying on the complex (Lomas) it might be a bit hard to do. It only takes one "family from hell" to ruin it for everybody.

Quite often an oral warning will suffice Woe.

Sometimes. Unfortunately, these days you're likely to get "oral" abuse back  :'(

Very true Woe.
Looks like the authorities need to work harder to attract the better class of tourist.

thomo, sorry you had such bad experience but, Caleta does seem to be a magnet for people like that. It is a purpose built resort and can attract the louder end of the tourist market.  I stayed there last June and vowed never to go there again. It's Corralejo every time for us.

Blah

Caleta is nothing like that Peggy, don't tar us all with the same brush.

From what I know of TN's that's a one off

Every place can experience a bad element or family irrespective where it is

We know from previous posts you don't like Caleta no need to enforce your likes and dislikes on everybody.  :'(

I'm not sure if I agree with this post or not..

I've been to Tommy Nutters plenty of times and never any trouble

Is it fair to name them at all in this post?

Were the people kicking off regulars/locals or just drunk holiday makers?

If so was it the fault of the bar?

Sorry but I feel that OP should explain a bit more about the circumstances before the bar gets a bad vote.

Here is one big improvement in Caleta since June.

When I first visited Fuerte some 25 years ago it was Corralejo every time for me and one trip to Caleta was more than enough. But as the town grew and expanded and got busier and busier, it became less relaxing. At the same time Caleta was developing into a more planned space, with newer facilities and the Atlantico centre and lagoon beaches added to the attraction and convenience of it all. I still love Corralejo and visit regularly, but I have bought property in Caleta. The resort is developing a much more international vibe, popular with families and mature couples and is generally very clean and quiet, unless of course you are heading out for an evening's 'entertainment'. For me you just cannot beat being in your apartment within 20 minutes of the plane landing and the central location to explore everything the island has to offer. Of course it only takes one d**khead to spoil it all, but you can get that anywhere in the world where some knob has had too much to drink. I don't think it's a speciality of Caleta or Tommy Nutters!

Crikey Peggy, you do go on a bit about your dislike of Caleta. I rather feel the same about Corralejo, but each to his/her own choice.

Oh!Oh! I seem to have upset some people!!!!! Just expressing an opinion on a place I have stayed twice and had the same experience Twice>

The last experience I had twice was being propositioned by prostitutes outside the Lobos Bahia Club in Corralejo where we were staying. Didn't bother me, but I did think it was a bit flagrant on the high street with children about - and with the police station just down the road as well! The following night a man was beaten up and mugged at the same spot. It's easy to drag up a bad experience isn't it and then tar the whole place with it. But funny enough, this incident never put me off visiting Corralejo - at the end of the day you can have a bad experience anywhere.

true you can have a bad experience anywhere. But i'm quite happy to hear tales of bad experiences of a place as it makes me aware and a little more careful than perhaps i would have been. Its just the same talking a place up as it is talking it down if you don't get the other side of the story.

They've almost certainly been banned from that place now, so they'll be working their way round the town, getting banned from each bar in turn.
It can spoil your evening when things like that happen, but few places would allow a repeat performance. And you have the knowledge that you are a better person than they are.

Never go out in bars in a UK Northern city on a Friday or Saturday night Peggy, it could finish you off, and whatever you do, never ever go to Blackpool in the summer on a Saturday "Afternoon or Night".

yeh for gods sake peggy don't ever say you had a bad time in caleta. We'd all prefer to believe its paradise.

Oh well at least we will all be able to sleep safely in our beds knowing that the Canarian governments new push for 5 star luxury will mean the eradication of this type of drunken foul mouthed common tourist spoiling our resort!!! Oh look a flying pig . . .

All this North / South sniping is getting a bit silly now..people prefer different resorts for all sorts of different reasons...no place is really 'Paradise', its just wherever your heart is..for whatever reason that makes it a great holiday / place to live.
My family is in Caleta so that will always be where we are, but we will be making an overnight to Corrie next month to see friends there..the whole island is just  lovely.   :)
Ps..I hear the North has a lot higher crime rate / burglaries than further down the island  :P :P

hev i'm just saying people should be able to come on here and say if they had a bad time in a certain place not just when alls gone well. You need a balanced feed back. I get the impression sometimes people are a bit apprehensive of mentioning a bad bar or restaurant or just a  all round holiday in case they get lambasted by the locals or those that own there. Especially Caleta.

And your right about the burgleries. If you see a gaurdia walking around in a pair of timberland boots holding a silver laptop and two bottles of honey rum they are probably mine.  :o

The problem nowerdays with the UK is that there are millions of undesireble rude people who will use and shout foul language in any situation. They go on holiday everywhere. Here in Fuerteventura we get our fair share of them both in Caleta and Corralejo. Only a small minority but you could do without out them. Lucky for us they are useually are only here for a week...

Don't know which resort they were all going to but the plane we got over last year was packed with people who looked like they were on their way to an audition for the Jeremy Kyle show.
