We recently flew out to Fuerteventura and got the bus up to Corralejo. The bus discount ticket machine seemed to be out of order. Can you still buy these discount cards and if so where in Puerto and Corralejo?
There is a new card, that is purchased from the bus driver. You pay a one off €1 for the card and top it up with any amount, when it is running out the bus driver can top it up for you again.
The card is called a 'Bono'
They have also put the price up to 2€ and you need to top up with between 15 and 50€ at a time
It is a real bargain seeing as you save 30% each trip ;D ;D

In January they still hadn't got the new card you buy from the driver working on the Corralejo to El Cotillo route.
I assume that must have been a temporary problem - I used my card on that route several times in September last year and also last month.
I think a notice in the bus station at Puerto says that the old-style 'countdown' €12 ticket system will cease on 30 June.
Has anyone with better Spanish than me seen it and can confirm or put the record straight?
We've been buying, using and reloading our Bonos on the N° 8 route between Corralejo and El Cotillo for the last year. So there isn't usually a problem.
Note that they won't accept 50€ notes. If you keep the receipt when you buy or reload the card, they'll let you have another one with your credit on it if your card is lost/stolen. We never go anywhere without ours as the buses are so cheap that sometimes when we plan to walk somewhere we end up on the bus for just a stop or two.
Can you buy the bono card in Corralejo bus station or only on the bus.
Only on the bus, there is no office at the bus station in Corralejo.

You can buy one of any bus driver. He'll give you a receipt as well as your card.
You don't have to travel on the bus at the moment you buy it. You can use it another time.
The minimum top-up is 15€.
are the old type cardboard visa shape cards still being used or are they now obsolete and cant be used?
As Oystercarcher has posted above, the old style tickets won't be vaild after the 30th of this month.
