New 5-euro note in circulation as of today

Shoppers and shops are advised that a new 5-euro note enters circulation today in the Eurozone countries and is likely to cause some confusion, at least until people grow accustomed to it.
The note is the first to be issued in a new series called Europa because some of the security features contain a portrait of the figure from Greek mythology. As it is one of the denominations most heavily exposed to wear and tear, its durability has been improved by applying a coating. The new 5-euro notes being introduced are more difficult to copy, the European Central Bank says. They have raised lines on both left and right edges and an emerald-coloured number 5, which changes colour to deep blue when the note is tilted. Europa's face appears as a watermark and hologram.
