I've read on other posts about rubbish bin rules and times of use. I was totally unaware of any rules regarding the use of bins with regard to times and have always put my rubbish in whenever it needed to go because that's what bins are for.
Am I wrong in doing this and leaving myself open to a fine? All the restaurants seem to use them whenever they like and I've never been stopped from doing so.
Do the rules only apply to bins in certain areas? Yet another minefield of pointless bureaucracy.
Please enlighten me.
Ta. 8) :-*
I've heard it's only on trial in Corralejo. (different council to Caleta)
What I do know is leaving pruned palm tree branches is a NO NO. (fine can be imposed), As there is a disease in the Canaries that is killing palm trees, and they should be disposed of professionally.

It could be that they don´t want the rubbish cooking in the bins during the heat of the day
A few years ago notices were pasted on the bins showing the rules. From what I remember you shouldn't put anything out before 8.00 pm and anything smelly should be wrapped.
Yes you must not place rubbish in the bins until after 8pm at the moment, but it goes to after 9pm at the end of May. Or if you want to get up early , you can do it, as long as it's before 5am in the morning. This is La Oliva anyway.
So what's the letter of the law in Caleta? ;)

They've not thought of any yet 8) Probably next week after the Easter break :o
There was an article in the Voice Magazine which can be viewed on line at www.thevoice-fuerteventura.com (http://www.thevoice-fuerteventura.com) (mid March to mid April 2013 copy)
There are no page numbers in the magazine but it is probably page 6.
This article explains the rules clearly and also sets out the fines which can be given out.
Re palms
You also need a license to cut palm tree branches off.We obtained ours from the Tendencia office in Corralejo. When you cut off the branches, you are supposed to paint over where the branches were to stop the insects getting in.( This is not a joke by the way!)
The branches should be taken to the 'punto limpio' or recycle centre and not left by the bins as in one of the above pictures.. There is one just outside Lajares on the way to La Oliva. Closed on Mondays.
According to the man who runs the centre, you can put recycle rubbish in the yellow bins at any time.
The article in the Voice is very helpful thanks and it looks like we're safe in Caleta at the moment from the madness. What a stupid bl**dy law. I'm sure all the other regions will follow like sheep to the slaughter once they see there's money to be made.
Got to be easier for the Guardia than selling drugs I suppose.
Looks like George Orwell was right only his timing was a bit out but even he couldn't have thought up something this ridiculous. True insanity takes a politician to conceive and give birth to.
According to La Provincia the fines in the Antigua area for littering are between €3000 and €60,000 :o

Whats triggers the starting €3000 opal fruit wrapper?, all the way up to the Mail/Express. I agree there should be rules and fines etc, but £3000 to start off with. You'd be scared to death if you drew your hands out your pockets and didn't notice a simple bus ticket falling out. Then the tap on the shoulder signifies you have just lost a min €3000. Aye right!
