Title: Just Back
Post by: thevdoc on February 07, 2013, 08:45:42 AM
Got back from Caleta last night and can say the weather was fab, even managed to have two days on the beach with a picnic, and I have to say it's the busiest I have ever seen it.  The restaurants were full every night and lots of people milling about.

I love having a drive up to corrie from caleta it  makes you realise what a nice clean place caleta is. As you arrive in corrie it reminds me of Beruit with those half built ruins on the out skirts of town. Any way before  the s---t hits the fan I'm off i will be back next week when the heat has died down.

I'm another fan of Corrie. Just back from 10 fantastic weeks there and it was the best weather in many years. Went to Caleta last June and could'nt wait to get home. What a souless place it is.

:-\ its a matter of opinion how you feel about about a place, but to say its souless is rather derogatory to the people who enjoy going there, and is quite disrespectful, I have been to "corrie" as you call it, not my favourite place on the island but i would not criticize it, each to their own.

Indeed, but I can see where Peggy is coming from and not Disrespectful at all, merely a matter of opinion. I`m not blind to Corries faults, far from it there are many, but Caleta does leave a lot to be desired. It caters too much for Brits and all that entails. Each of course to their own

I didn't go much for the beach at correlejo. However I did enjoy the beach that was a €5 drive out of town in a taxi.Does that count as correlejo?

Yes I think so we walk there and back from the harbour along the beach going and by road on return.Always do this walk at least once each visit.

Don't mean to sound disrespectful about Caleta, but, it is a purpose built resort like any other anywhere.  I like Corrie because of it's history and character plus you have a choice of beaches and a harbour where you can sit and have a nice meal and watch the world go by.

Everybody's entitled to their opinion, fair play,i love Caleta then again i've been to Gran Tarajal which is beautiful also,Caleta is tourist/purpose built i agree and i think its expensive in some areas,definitley....Been to Antigua village etc for a meal, dirt cheap and like being in another world, the locals are lovely.....

Thats the real Fuerteventura in the villages outside the major resorts padd. The caletas and corries do what it says on the tin, provides a holidaymaker environment and the prices to go with it. Just one reason why i've always failed to understand why people buy property within the confines of one of these places then complain about tourist activity. Even if you buy on a residential complex you are still in the area . Its weird.

I know that place - directly opposite Impescasa: bacon and everything rolls on the island, dripping with aioli (that may be the French spelling, sorry), cheese and olive oil and fit to burst with bacon and salad. The best on the island and one of the cheapest, too!

The one opposite Inpescasa is called 'Mafasca', fab food, service etc, also another place to try is 'Joans', just behind the church, fab tapas and the best pizza i've ever had!!.....you are right, very cheap, excellent value......how lucky are we living minutes away from both places... ;D ;D
