Post by: janeanddave on February 05, 2013, 08:11:59 AM
Hi,
A while ago I read that some water companies give a reduction to over 65's can anyone give me any information, regarding which companies, and how you go about claiming etc.

If you live in the Antigua Municipality then residents do get a discounted water rate.  You have to go to the Aguas de Antigua office and register.

The discount is with Antigua water and is on the standard charge not the water tarrif. They automatically charge everyone the standard charge unless you apply to them for the discount at their office. There are a variety of discounts off the standard charge and everyone who is a resident is able to get some discount - no discount for non-residents. The residents discount reduces the standard charge by about €8 per month and there is a further discount for pensioners.

In Antigua, on the residents rate, we are charged at 0.99 euros for the first 5 mU that we use, then at 1.2 euros for any units between 5 and 10 mU.

Recently, that works out at 50 cents a day for our average water useage :D.

Does this apply to anyone living on the Golf? I believe this to be separate.

Gunner - the Campo de Golf provides it's own water (separate from Aguas de Antigua)

Bluefox - I don't know.  The measurement is done in mU

I believe there is a different rate dependant on whether your complex is residential or touristic, or is it between complex and private house?

On our complex it works out around €2.60 a Cubic Metre.

We do not have our own meters so it is all on the complex bill.

So your complex is a former touristic not a residential complex Bluefox. Your water is supplied by Agua Antigua, and paid through the Administration company.
I would think the water should be the same per cubic meter as other complexes that hold the same status, and have the water supplied by Agua Antigua, wouldn't you think ?.

sorry captain i don't know what cU mean's, all i know is the water is measured in cubic meter's = 1,000 litre's, deso, f/rebel, the our complex is an ex tourist, but is now residential, and we still have a single meter, but the figure of 2.60 per mtr i heard before, and your situation deso sound's the same as our's, but we are being charged more than that, thank's.

I would ask your administrator to see a water bill, however, if that is who I think it is then good luck.  ::)

PS When is your AGM, I'd love to come along.  :D

i guess it is who you think it might be deso, and asking them anything, ye right ! you'd have more chance gettin into 10 downing st. and talking to the p.m. (not that i would want to talk to him) last time i went with a querie i had to put my foot in the door and almost had to force my way in, which of course i did, did'nt me far tho', no answer's as usual, there i was in their office, funnyly enough asking about my water bill, i could'nt beleive when they told me to send an email, WHAT ?..... it's laughable, but in a sickening way, anyway i don't see a problem if you want to come along, it's in march, i'll send you the detail's whenever i get them, it's usualy a friendly owner that pass's them on, as i'm one of a few that don't receive mail's from the pres/admin, unless of course there's money involved, ie water bill, it could be enjoyable if we can start a few spark's to fly. bf.

I am on the golf course and have never seen a bill or the tariff. There is a standard charge of about 26 Euros every 2 months which icludes up to a certain level of usage but if in any 2 month period you use more than that level you incur additional charges.  I think it is all run by Anjoca.

Generally speaking I use less that 10cm per day.  The first 5 cm is charged at 0.99 cents per cm and between 5 - 10 it is 1.20 Euros pcm.

1--18 is 2.3 Euros per cm and over 18 it is 2.8 Euros per pcm. That is with Aquas Antigua.

Cost for waste water is .47
