Putting the roof on the new Bus Station in Caleta. Looks like a strong gust of wind, and it´s gone :o
I hope people used the Traffic Light - Controlled Crossing to get to it.

I knew it was going to have this type of canopy roof on it, from the plans when it was first announced; but I thought it would be made out of a solid material rather than the one than seems to be quite flimsy.
It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts in the wind and sun.
Steve, any idea when it will open ?
It's due to be finished by the end of the month. When it will be operational is anyone's guess ;D
The question is - is the bus service going to be improved/expanded in any way? I am quite happy with the service as it is and the current bus stop seems to serve the community quite well. What will this grand bus station do by way of enhancing the situation. ? I know they may be installing a cafe, but not sure this is going to be much of an attraction. Maybe the bus service will be worse, so a cup of coffee whilst hanging around could be the reason for that. More unnecessary spending of funds it seems to me. :'(
It would be good if there was a bus service that ran between Caleta and Corralejo, calling in at the airport.
I'm sure that a there would be sufficient travellers to justify such a service.
At the new bus station there is going to be a cafe, toilets and a taxi rank.

Where has this new bus station been built?
Could you tell me relative to the existing bus stop near the underpass and will this stop still be in use?
JJ
The new bus station is at the northern entrance to Caleta, and access is from the Castillo roundabout. It will replace the existing stop by the underpass.

Great pics Steve,interesting stuff guys.......
it took this long with multiple delays to erect half a tent?
wow.
Another waste of money
The delay was caused by the original constructor going out of business.
It just looks out of context with everything else around it. No doubt the top knobs of the Cabildo will gather for the official opening, patting themselves on the back, beaming from ear to ear for the cameras.
When do the elephants arrive?
Hopefully they won't be white ones! ;D
It´s a standing joke already, and it´s not even open yet ;D
Captain
Thanks for that, I know where it is now.
You can see a bit of 'scratching around' going on on Google Earth.
JJ
Things keep changing every bloody year ? I come back over and its different yet again here n there ?
Thought there was a dang-blasted recession going on ?
Man alive................. :o ::) ::) >:(
How about an "Express" bus - Morro Jable, Gran Tarajal, Caleta, Airport, Puerto, Corralejo - then everyone will get a service not just you northerners!
I´ve been here 19 years and NEVER EVER been on a bus here :'( 8) :o ;D
I've got a route planned out to travel around the island by bus in one day. It would cost around 29 euros with a discount card.
There have been quite a few improvements in Caleta over the past couple of years. When I was out last week I thought Caleta was looking really good and very busy. The improvements may not be to everyone's liking but at least they are trying. The buses are excellent and with the very large queue's I saw at the bustop last week I think it would be very nice to have somewhere cool to sit.
Can I come too Captain? The bus from Puerto to Tuineje takes 35 minutes WITH STOPS. It takes me 40 minute in the car WITHOUT stopping - hold VERY tight please
We crossed the Atlantic on a cruise ship with a similar encumbrance over the stern deck [quarter deck in my day!] - I reckon it added about 5 knots to our speed!
can i have the big issue pitch :o
Off your head appy, how the hell are ya Brendan ? The business going ok ? PM me if ya wanna keep details secret etc, good to hear from ya,hope all well.....
Looks as if the gates have been taken down - might open in the next couple of years!!
I believe this coincides with the bus service being reduced?
When I was over there 2-3 weeks ago, they were having to make some modifications, something to do with the services pipework that carries all the cables etc., apparently it was not done properly. ::) ::)
Last week I think they were putting sewage pipes under the road. They "forgot" to put those in too :o
Is it or isn't it open yet?
Still not open, Emmi ;) ::) :o
I wonder why I expected that answer LOL! ;D
Oooh very fancy. Thanks for the pics. :)
STILL !!!!!! NOT OPEN :o :o :o
Drove into Caleta on Wednesday for the first time in ages and I swear there was a bus parked there. As the bus station came into view, the kids thought the circus was in town...
Is it up and running now ?
There was a digger and a lorry on the site yesterday, tidying up the back of the site ;).
So it's still not open ::)
