Now we know the whole of it.
As a business, it makes perfect and sound sense.
If you play them at their own game, and not take their extras where possible of course, their flights are cheap and ok. With the best record for schedule time keeping they at least save you the farting about that others do, kicking byour heels in a departure lounge isn't my idea of fun.
Keep to the basics, keep within your luggage weights, print off your boarding tickets in plenty of time, sit where you can etc and you will secure very realist prices to fly to another country et al.
And do it very very well.
Myself and Herself are booked to fly Dub to Fue on the 20th of November with Aer Lingus (we all make mistakes). It now looks like this outfit will be on strike. If they are not on strike they will more than likely be running about an hour late. Im fed up with people slagging Ryanair and saying how good the bankrupt small National carrier is. We have traveled six or seven times a year for the past six years with Ryanair and never had a problem, twice with Air Lingus and on both times we were fcuked about one way or another. It looks to me that Air Lingus use the song,"Are ye right there Michael are ye right" as there mission statment. I hope O,Leary buys them and shows them how an airline should be run.
Over and out.
I still have the horrible memory of that poor man who had to get off the RA flight on return to Dublin in august of this year where the flight was over booked by one person, was anyone on this forum on that flight?. They(RA) of course offered him compensation and vowed to return him to Dublin the next day, which was a Wednesday. The only thing was RA did not fly from Fuert to Dublin on the next day and I some how doubt they flew him alone back to Dublin, I could be wrong Mr. O Leary could of sent a private jet for him :). I guess the poor man got back to Dublin eventually via Kazakhstan or somewhere like that and I hope they had enough fuel to land, but I hope he is home lol. Sorry but its AL for me from now on, ironically enough in 2011 AL flights were around 100euro cheaper that RA for the same flights and better times but I could not go for 2 weeks this year had to make it 10 days so had to take RA .
Could have been worse, that poor man could have been stuck in Dublin on the way out and the boys and girls in green walking up and down outside with plackards. O,Leary would probably come to his rescue then as well.As always when some airline gets into trouble or has stranded pax he can supply the goods.Ok he charges but why work for nothing because of other peoples mess up. Also I suppose when you have customer numbers of 80 to 90 million pax per year you may have the odd problem.
im sure that poor man has forgiven RA by now, he just looked a little traumatized while being escorted off the flight, im just a big softie and felt so sorry for him leaving his family on the plane. Just saying like.
