Title: Correos service improving!
Post by: TamaraEnLaPlaya on October 10, 2012, 23:08:31 PM
Things are looking up! A small package posted in the UK on Thursday arrived here on Tuesday and a letter posted on Saturday arrived here today, Wednesday.  :)
Let's hope it lasts - perhaps there is a new Postie in Madrid!

How long does it normally take for post to be delivered? I have just taken a post office box in Caleta and my daughter is sending some documents..

Stopped sending post cards a long time ago as it eats into my lying in the sun time.   Had resorted to taking preprinted address lables towards the end.
Or is it that I am just an old meanie???

Had several items posted from the UK 'go missing' and not turn up, birthday cards, eBay items etc. Recently got a mate in the UK to post me a brand new t-shirt. Got him to post it 'International Signed For' and told him to put 'used clothes' and the value as £0.00 on the customs label. Low and behold, a few days after he sent it, I got a card in my letter box and picked it up in the correos without a problem.

What I do know is that Woodside are now offering a service for getting small items sent here as I recently asked Annette about it. Here's what she had to say -

"We now have a storage area in Gloucester (Big Yellow Storage Company) where small items can be sent to for despatch to the Canary Islands (hand-held items only).  Jim collects on a monthly basis and brings over to Fuerte and Lanzarote.

So, in a nut-shell the items don't go missing or 'snarled up' in Customs... the transport/paperwork price offered is the price the Client pays (then we charge import tax at 7% of the declared value of the items). Simple!!"

Sounds like a good idea and may well be worth considering!

We posted some Spanish Christmas cards to friends when we were there a few years ago just before the 25th December, they arrived quite promptly, in March.

To be perfectly honest,we have posted postcards to home(UK)whilst on holiday and they got there BEFORE we arrived back home ? We stay in Caleta and the store right on the corner just past the Hyperdino has a yellow box to post things in and it seems that its emptied regularly which isn't to be said for a few other sites....
Just a thought.............. ::) ::) ::)
