Title: Pruning Palm Trees - What You Should Know
Post by: woe10 on September 23, 2012, 19:15:22 PM

IT´S NOT LEGAL !!!!!  I found out this morning when a Policeman knocked on my door and asked if I knew who filled the Basura close to my house, with Palm Leaves.

He explained that there is a MITE in the palms which is spreading disease which could wipe out all the palms on the Island. They should only be Pruned by a Professional, who disposes of them properly, and treats the cut Palm withe a special Red or Blue paint chemical which kills the mite.

As I have no Palms, he could see it wasn´t me, but asked, if I see who does it to report them, as there is a HEFTY FINE if you are caught. You have been warned.

I didn´t know either until I got a knock on the door by the old bill. I´m sure your gardener will know how to dispose of them properly, and treat the stubs. The Bins are a no no.
