Post by: fifi on June 30, 2012, 20:09:04 PM
Article translated from Canarias7. :)

The Grand Casino in Caleta will open on  Sunday, at 9pm, but will celebrate its official opening on Friday 6th July.

Yesterday there was a  presentation of  28 diplomas to  students of the School of croupiers. They will  assist future customers of the casino.

The Grand Casino  will become a focal point for a new type of tourist interested in gambling and betting. The casino has an area of 900 square feet on two floors, and is further complemented by other services: rest areas, a bar and a restaurant.

American roulette, poker, blackjack and Texas Hold'em will be played. The schedule of the games room will be from 20.00 to 4.00  in winter and 21.00 and 5.00 hours in summer. The arcade room is open from 10.00 pm until the respective closing times for the games room in winter and summer.

Business Outlook. Promoters of the great Casino Antigua Fuerteventura estimate that the business could leave annual revenues around EUR 3 million. The establishment may receive during their first year of opening the visit of some 47,500 customers.

I love Texas Hold'em High.

I've never been brave enough to play with real money though - just fantasy money on-line.

I always lose.   :(

Think I'll give the casino a miss.  ;D ;D ;D 8)

It's at the Hotel Carlota in Caleta de Fuste, near the Atlantico Commercial Centre.

I think I'll give it a miss!

Hi Paddster.

Agreed. I love the game and played it for years. Currently I play other folk around the World on my Blackberry. I always stick with 'fantasy money' as usually unable to hold any decent amount - a reckless gambler.  I know I'll just lose money ;D ;D

I'll have a look at 'pokerstars' though. Thanks.

You have more chance in the casino than playing poker on line they are all bent after all you are playing a computer. In the casino yes the house has the edge but you can have great nights out if you only take what you can afford to lose. the casino will be a big success as it plonked right by 4 & 5 star hotels and of course the golf courses.

A casino is not complete without a craps table. Shame they have overlooked this.
Funny as it sounds , you don't have to gamble in a casino, if done properly it should have a restaurant, and have entertainment on certain evenings.
If you do choose to gamble , perhaps you should use this as mantra
Get in ...Get up.....Get out.

Went in last night for a drink at the Bar. Reasonable prices. They have a Restaurant also, but didn´t look in there, but I could see through from the Bar that there were people eating. This was 2.00am. :D :D

That´s right. I saw people dressed in just shorts and T-Shirts. Very relaxed and friendly.

Tourist casino yeh right went last night nice place you can play machines on the right hand side as you go in without being a member but we joined and went in the casino like i said nice place but when i asked the croupier on black jack what was the min um bet 5 euro and the roulette 2.50 euro and yes three people in there at those prices it will be a white elephant just like the water park. The only good news you can play the roulette on the machine in the other room at a min 10 cents up to a max 6 euro per spin this room was quite busy with the slot machines and the bar is in that room.

From the info given in the first post of this page (3,000,000 euros from 47,500 customers), means they expect 63 euros off each punter :o

It goes without saying that this will be a "White Elephant".  I don´t know who these "promoters" are, but they´re living in Cloud Cuckoo Land with those figures.

The casino looks great. Just what the area needed. Onwards and upwards. What an addition for a group on a golf holiday to have a nice bit of fun after the evening meal. I dont think they will have a problem with the targets. Golfers spend money when they are on holiday. You want to see them buying Golfino golf tops at 100 euros a pop in the Fuerteventura golf shop. Great place to open it between 2 golf courses that are packed full of wealthy Europeans all winter. The summer clients will be interesting but  online betting is the fastest growing world business mainly because people cant get to a casino. I think its a winner. I wish I had shares in it...

A new venture like this requires plenty of advertising in the relevant areas and will take a few years to get established. Hopefully it will take off and bring some money and jobs to Caleta and Fuerteventura.

I often go to Madeira, and the casino in Funchal is a massive crowd puller.

(They do have constant visiting cruise ships though - you can see the tourists all walking up the hill to the casino  ;))
