Can you use your passport to fly from the UK to Fuerteventura, right up to the date of expiry.

There is no reason why not but most airlines insist there must be at least 6 months left on it or at least until after your return journey

It's a rule world wide that you must have a valid passport to travel. If something unforeseen was to happen to you and your return was delayed then your passport would not be valid. 6 Months is a reasonable period to cover such an eventuality.

Don't know Cockney about the 6 months.
A girl from our town went to Ibiza for a holiday last year.
She met an eventuality at a beachparty.
She needed 9 months.

Yes erik_tonny but under those circumstances you would have enough time to apply for a renewal or emergency document.

Within the EU we're supposed to be able to travel right up to the expiry date. However, airlines have a responsibility not to let people board if they won't be allowed in. They get fined as well as paying for return passage. So they take it on themselves to impose their own rules, which vary. Only solution: ask them (and get it in writing).
