Salt Museum

Went to the salt museum on Tuesday given that it's not exactly beach weather.  A strange place indeed! For an establishment devoted to the joys of sodium chloride, the gift shop is totally uncontaminated with the substance.

Not a grain!   We are thinking of doing the cheese museum today as weather is still looking doubtful. I assume they have cheese?

We visited the Salt museum on early Jan and they had a few bags sale..

It may be a seasonal thing.

In the past I haven't been able to get any because "the weather hasn't been right".

Well, there will not have been much evaporation going on this week

My understanding is that salt is only produced from March to October as the evaporation of water by the sun is insufficient outside these months.

No salt at the cheese museum.  No Wensleydale, Limburger or Venesualian Beaver cheese either.  Not much of a cheese shop really

I visited the Saturday farmers` market at bus station in PDR today
Interesting. Mostly veggies, some cheese, some bread and one fish stall ( not as interesting  as Mercando at La Hondura)
However, there was a stall which had Museo de la Sal salt.
This was 7 euros a kilo. When I last bought this salt it was 70 cents a kilo. I assumed profiteering.

So I took the bus to Las Salinas del Carmen. Salt these is - 7 euros a kilo

I am glad to see that a local industry is better recognising the value of it`s product.

Still a bargain!!

Magoos Salt Saga

Magoo of Fuerter, the man for all Seasoning
Visited the “Salt Museum” for no good reasoning
When its wet and windy on Fuerter, you must understand
There`s feck all else to do, if you can`t play in the sand.

He posted on the forum “His visit had filled him with dismay”
That to his shock and horror, there was no salt on display,
It sent Boo Boo, Bikers and Eriks blood pressure
Shooting off the scale,
As they each use it by the kilo, weekly, without fail.

My advice to anyone reading, to save your "Blood Pressure" trouble and strife,
Is to stick to a pinch of SAXA,it could save your life.
